Introduction - In recent years, there has been a significant increase in homelessness in the United States, evidencing that there are many economically challenged people living in one of the wealthiest counties in the world. Even the best methodology in determining the depth of homelessness in our country proves to be difficult and is perhaps somewhat inaccurate; however, national estimates of homelessness show that as many as 3.5 million people are homeless at some point during any given year, and studies also indicate that 1.5 million of those homeless are children, considered the fastest growing segment of homelessness in the country. Various reports indicate that economic challenges exist for people of diverse backgrounds and for many reasons. In addition to, and often contributors to homelessness, are a number of other issues that affect the wellness of our communities, including an increasing number of teenage pregnancies, disproportionate number of high school dropouts among blacks and Hispanics, increasing poverty among the elderly, drug abuse, lack of adequate healthcare, hungry school age children and families, etc. The statistics are available for all of these issues as well. For instance, although the national drop out rate for blacks decreased to a low of 11% in 2001, blacks and Hispanics still have a higher drop out rate as compared to the White and Non-Hispanic ethic categories. We strongly believe that there can never be enough support to bring long-term solutions to serve, assist and lift up the indigent among us. We have a vision to do our share to help as many people as we can. We will accomplish our helping and sharing vision by employing a realistic and stable plan that offers more than a bandage approach.
Who are we? AND What are our objectives?
- One Christian Ministry was founded in March of 2006 with the fundamental goals of bringing the unsaved to salvation and to assist the saved in continued spiritual growth. This basic concept of our purpose to God may be familiar. However, for our community development, it extends to making a difference in the lives of others in many ways. It means that we serve others as Christ has taught and directed us. It means that we take this seriously, knowing that life change is possible because of what the word of God shows us and because many of us have accomplished significant change in our own lives.
One Christian Ministry Community Development Corporation is an organization led by people who have been “called” to do God’s work through philanthropic deeds and actions, giving time and personal financial contributions. Specifically, our Community Development Corporation is run by two DBA’s- BBC and 1CM, Behavior Becoming of a Christian and One Christian Man, respectfully. It has been our goal to unite great men and women who desire to serve their community. We have been very successful in this endeavor and now need the appropriate structure in order to receive assistance from the government and private sector
What we accomplished to date? - BBC and 1CM ministries are continuing to develop outreach programs to serve the community. For instance, over the past two years, We have been active in supporting the Cosby Spears High-rise through weekly interaction geared toward ministry, encouragement, education and general support. This assisted living community located in the City of Atlanta helps the elderly and disabled.
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen" (Hebrews 11:1).
For Eternity’s mission is to always keep the Faith in God, to know that He shall always supply our needs, and that we shall serve Him and Him only in our times of abundance and in our times of need, in our times of peace and in our times of tribulation, whether condemned or exalted, at all times, we shall serve, worship, and praise the Lord!
BBC and 1CM are also active in youth programs that prepare youth for life success - through activities and a teaching concentration that includes sports, music, ministerial studies and life application studies.
BBC and 1CM as members of and through the support of For Eternity Christian Church have been successful in reaching out to the Stone Mountain community through inspirational literature and words and through assistance programs for the elderly and indigent.
What are our immediate needs? - In our current activities, we recognize, however, that there is so much that needs to be done, and we realize that our success in community service will partially depend upon contributions/grants received from the private and governmental sector respectfully.
We want to continue or start offering community needs programs such as leadership workshops, health screenings, mentoring and tutorial programs and feeding the homeless projects. In order to meet our objectives to God and community, we need to secure funding to support specific programs and endeavors which will help to bring long-terms solutions. These corporate sponsorship opportunities will allow our work and vision to continue in quality and to increase in quantity, with the ultimate goal of reaching more people.
One Christian Ministry has identified three areas of immediate need that will assist the indigent and community at large in the Stone Mountain area:
As such we will be working diligently to fund the following immediate needs through private, church, and government funding:
A. To secure building fund needs in the amount of $450,000.00 to purchase a structure for the purpose of establishing a community development center in the city of Stone Mountain, Georgia. While our community development center will work to reach the young and the old, we will have a special affinity to young people, especially teenagers. We believe that making a difference in their lives will create more productive citizens who can also make a difference in the lives of others as they grow and mature.
What are our long term goals? In addition to providing worship and community outreach, One Christian Ministry’s future goals include provisions for the following:
